Morning Devotional - Complete in Him

Good morning, everyone, and welcome to another episode of Living Word Cast. I’m Pastor Michael, and today, we are diving deep into a powerful truth from Scripture that will encourage you as you begin your day—Complete in Him. This is something that should shape the way we see ourselves in Christ, and I pray that it speaks directly to your heart today.
Our passage comes from Colossians 2:9-10 (ESV), and it says:
“For in him the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily, and you have been filled in him, who is the head of all rule and authority.”
What does it mean to be "complete in Him"? In these verses, the Apostle Paul is writing to the church in Colossae to remind them of their identity in Jesus Christ. He tells them that the fullness of God—His complete essence, power, and glory—dwells in Jesus. And here’s the amazing part: in Christ, you have been filled up completely. You are complete in Him.
Let that sink in for a moment. Think about the times in life when you have felt incomplete—maybe you’ve felt lacking, unsure, or insecure about who you are. But Scripture assures us that, in Christ, we lack nothing. We don’t need to search for fulfillment in things of this world or in achievements. The fullness of God is found in Jesus Christ, and because we are united with Him, we are made full.
Look at verse 10 again: “You have been filled in him.” This is a present reality for every believer. It’s not something we’re striving to attain, and it’s not something that we will receive one day when we get to heaven. No, we are already complete in Christ right now. This is a positional truth. In Him, we lack nothing.
But how do we come to understand this truth in our daily lives? Well, first, we need to remember that our completeness is not based on our performance. It’s not about how much we achieve or how well we do things for God. Our completeness is based entirely on who Christ is and what He has done for us.
Paul emphasizes this in the beginning of Colossians 2:9 when he says, “For in him the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily.” Jesus is the very fullness of God, and in Him, we are made full. It is not by anything we do, but by the grace of God that we are made complete in Christ.
So, the next time you feel unworthy or incomplete, remember that in Christ, you are fully accepted, fully loved, and fully filled. You don’t need anything else. The Creator of the universe has made His home in you. The same power that raised Christ from the dead now lives in you.
Let’s take a moment to reflect. Have you been living like you are complete in Christ? Or have you been looking for validation or fulfillment in other areas of your life? In your relationships, your work, your achievements? Jesus is the only source of true fullness. He is enough, and in Him, we are made complete.
As we go throughout our day today, let’s live with the knowledge that we are complete in Him. We don’t need to search for our worth or purpose anywhere else. We already have everything we need in Christ. Our completeness is secure because He is our completeness.
Let’s pray together:
Father, thank You for the incredible truth that we are complete in Christ. Thank You that we don’t need to look anywhere else for fulfillment or validation because we are fully filled in Him. Help us to live today with the confidence that in Jesus, we have everything we need. May we reflect the fullness of Christ in our words, our actions, and our lives. We are complete in Him, and we praise You for that. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Thank you for joining me this morning. As you go through your day, remember that you are complete in Him. May this truth fill your heart and guide your steps. I look forward to joining you again tomorrow on Living Word Cast. God bless.
