Morning Devotional - New Mercies Every Morning

Good morning, brothers and sisters in Christ. I’m so glad you’ve joined me today on Living Word Cast. As we gather together for this morning devotional, let’s take a moment to quiet our hearts and reflect on the truth that God has for us today.
The beginning of a new day can sometimes feel like a fresh start, and often, that feeling comes with mixed emotions. Maybe you woke up feeling energized, ready to take on the day, or perhaps you’re carrying some burdens from yesterday. Maybe you are in a season of joy, or you may be walking through a time of difficulty and challenge. Regardless of where you find yourself this morning, I want to remind you of something very important.
This truth will carry us throughout our day and sustain us, no matter what we face. It’s the truth found inLamentations 3:22-23, and it’s a word of comfort:
"The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness."
God’s Steadfast Love:
Let’s start with the first part of this verse: “The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases.”
We live in a world that’s filled with change. Relationships shift. Jobs can be lost. Health can fail. People may disappoint us. But, my dear friend, there is a love that never shifts, never fails, and never ends—the steadfast love of the Lord.
What does it mean for God's love to be steadfast? It means that His love is unwavering, constant, and unfailing. The Hebrew word for “steadfast” is “chesed,” which refers to God’s loyal, covenantal love. It’s a love that doesn’t falter based on our actions or circumstances. His love remains true, regardless of how we feel or how we behave. It is not like human love, which can be fickle or conditional. God’s love is steadfast.
Psalm 136 echoes this truth beautifully, as it reminds us that God’s love endures forever. Each time you read that Psalm, you are reminded that in every season of life, God’s love is constant. When you wake up in the morning, you don’t need to wonder if God still loves you. He does, and He always will. This truth remains forever unchanged, even when everything else around us seems uncertain.
