Morning Devotional - Seeing Light Amidst the Chaos

Good Morning Brothers and Sisters, and welcome to The Living Word Cast! I’m your host, Pastor Michael Chilcott, coming to you from Toronto, Ontario, Canada and I’m so glad you’ve joined me today.
Let's open our hearts to the Word of God today, allowing His truth to anchor us.
Scripture Reading
Let’s start withJohn 8:12, where Jesus declares:
“Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, ‘I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.’” (ESV)
This powerful declaration by Jesus tells us that no matter how dark our circumstances may be, if we follow Him, we will not walk in darkness. He promises that we will have the light of life. Jesus is our guiding light, and when we place our trust in Him, we no longer need to fear the darkness that surrounds us.
Reflection: The Chaos Around Us
The world often feels chaotic, doesn’t it? Whether it’s news headlines, personal struggles, or moments of doubt, there’s a constant reminder of how unstable things can be. Sometimes we may even find ourselves in situations where we can’t make sense of what’s happening around us.
But in those moments, we must remember that Jesus’ light is greater than any darkness. The chaos of life is temporary. The hope we have in Christ is eternal.
InPsalm 27:1, David declares:
“The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?” (ESV)
David, too, knew what it was like to face overwhelming circumstances. He encountered enemies, personal failures, and times of deep despair. Yet, he recognized that the Lord was his light and salvation. When the Lord is your light, fear has no place. The chaos may rage around you, but you are secure in the stronghold of His presence.
