Introduction: Context of the Book of Philemon
The book of Philemon is a letter written by the Apostle Paul to Philemon, a Christian leader, regarding his runaway slave, Onesimus, who had become a believer through Paul’s ministry. Paul encourages Philemon to forgive Onesimus and receive him back not as a slave but as a brother in Christ. It’s a letter that emphasizes Christian love, reconciliation, and forgiveness.
