The Truth About Prophets and Apostles Today

Welcome to Living Word Cast!
I’m Pastor Michael Chilcott, coming to you from Toronto, Ontario, Canada. This podcast exists to proclaim, teach, and explore the Word of God together. Our goal is to provide sound theological and biblical guidance on all things Scripture, helping you grow deeper in your understanding of the Bible and your relationship with the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Whether you’re seeking answers, encouragement, or a closer walk with God, this podcast is here to help you stay firmly rooted in the truth of God’s Word.
Are there still Prophets and Apostles today? Is it biblical for people to claim these titles, or are these individuals exploiting the Church for fame, power, and financial gain? How can we, as Christians, discern the truth and expose the lies of those who misuse these sacred roles?
This is a heavy topic, but one we must approach with a commitment to truth and a reverence for God’s Word.
What Are Prophets and Apostles in the Bible?
Let’s start by understanding what Prophets and Apostles are according to the Bible. We need this foundation before addressing whether these roles still exist today.”
What Is a Prophet?
Definition:“A Prophet is someone chosen by God to deliver His words to His people. Their role was to proclaim truth, call for repentance, and reveal God’s will, often through messages of warning or hope.”
Key Verses About Prophets:
Deuteronomy 18:18: ‘I will raise up for them a prophet like you from among their brothers. And I will put my words in his mouth, and he shall speak to them all that I command him.’
Prophets spoke only what God revealed. They didn’t give their own opinions or ideas.
Example Prophets in the Bible:
Old Testament: Moses, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, Jonah.
New Testament: John the Baptist (the last Prophet before Jesus, per Matthew 11:13).
