When God looks at you, what does He see?

When God looks at you, what does He see?

Welcome To Living Word Cast!

In this episode, we’re going to dive into a powerful question: When God looks at you, what does He see? It’s a question that many Christians might wonder about at different points in their lives. We might ask ourselves, “Am I measuring up? Does God look at me with love or disappointment? What does God see when He looks at me, with all my flaws and struggles?”

To help us answer this question, we’ll explore what the Bible has to say. We’ll look at key Scripture references and break them down so we can grasp hold of the truth that God’s perspective of us is not based on our imperfections, but on His grace and love for us through Jesus Christ.

1. God Sees Us Through the Lens of Jesus Christ

First and foremost, when God looks at us, He sees us through the lens of His Son, Jesus Christ. This means that He doesn’t see our sins, our failures, or our shame. Instead, He sees the righteousness of Christ imputed to us. Let’s turn to the book of 2 Corinthians to understand this.

2 Corinthians 5:21 (ESV):“For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.”

In this verse, we learn that Jesus took on our sin so that we could become righteous in God’s eyes. When God looks at us, He doesn’t see us as sinful, broken people who are far from His holiness. Instead, He sees us as righteous because of the sacrifice of Jesus. Jesus paid the price for our sins, and now we are clothed in His righteousness.

It’s like wearing a beautiful robe of grace. When God sees us, He sees Christ’s perfection covering us. This is the beauty of the gospel—the fact that God’s love for us is not based on our works or behavior, but on Christ’s finished work on the cross.
